A Hypothesis of ‘Poroshki’ Origin, or in Search of the Beginnings of a New Russian Poetical Form
Offered is a hypothesis of possible origins of a new Russian web poetic form named poroshki. The objectives set forth by the author are to reveal the most evident links between poroshki and the world and Russian literary heritage that might serve as formal and / or ideological milestones for those who created the discussed short poems; to identify defi nite authors’ texts that genetically preceded poroshki; to
outline the role, place, and significance of poroshki in the contemporary Russian-language poetic discourse.
The principal method was that of description and comparison of literary texts actualized by way of systematizing, generalizing and revealing explicit and implicit structure and content-related textual markers.
Purely linguistic methods included contextual analysis and gradual complex, primarily expressive stylistic interpretation of text components. It is stated in conclusion that the presumptive prototype demonstrating clear parallels is the poetry of Mikhail Kuzmin (1872–1936), namely his cycle Curtained Pictures. In general, poroshki making a segment of the Russian poetic discourse of today, are to be viewed as aт attempt to change the traditional aesthetic paradigm by means of popular poetry.
