The article examines the activities of party and Soviet bodies, Komsomol organizations and residents of the Rostov oblast in providing assistance to wounded and sick Soviet servicemen in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War (1941–1942). The article reveals the specifics and forms of solving these issues, including the creation and maintenance of a network of hospitals, as well as the rescue of the

The role of government bodies was expressed in the fact that they regulated and controlled the entire range of issues related to the creation, placement and supply of hospitals, using traditional administrative-legal and agitation-propaganda methods. It was established that residents not only looked after the wounded in hospitals, but also saved them at the front and during the occupation.
