Creation of the Task Force of Major General A.A. Khadeev and Its Role in the Battle for the Caucasus

The article is devoted to a little-known fact about the organization of the defense of the eastern part of the Main Caucasian Ridge during the Battle of the Caucasus by the troops of the operational group headed by the Deputy Commander of the troops of the Transcaucasian Front, Major General A.A. Khadeyev. Units and subdivisions of the group occupied defensive positions on mountain passes from August 29 to December 3, 1942 to fi ght against saboteurs, bandits and deserters. The aim of the defense
was to prevent the enemy forces from entering the territory of the Azerbaijan SSR, up to the city of Baku.
Brief information about the leaders is given, the composition of the group's troops is shown, the facts of the movement of the group's headquarters in the interest of the most effective command of the troops are noted,
the most characteristic orders and instructions of the group's command on the performance of combat and everyday tasks are quoted. The contribution of the created operational group to the defense of the Caucasus and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War is concluded.
