Internet Communication: Genre Specifi cs and Impact on Russian Phraseology

The article analyzes the impact of Internet communication on the phraseological system of contemporary Russian. The processes of transformation of phraseological units and the emergence of new items in the context of digitalization are examined. Special attention is paid to such types of Internet discourse as memes and demotivators, which contribute to the reinterpretation and ironic reworking of set
expressions. The paper identifi es the mechanisms of memeifi cation, abbreviation, and visualization of phraseological units, as well as the integration of computer slang and abbreviations. In conclusion, the article summarizes the current development of the phraseological system, its adaptation to new forms of communication, and the need for further research in this area.
